The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at RMH will provide almost 12,000 square feet of patient care and support spaces. This new addition will allow the hospital to continue its mission to provide Holistic Patient-Centered Care close to the residents of Fortuna and surrounding communities. The architectural design of the the new addition will increase patient and caregiver connection to the outdoors and will amplify the healing effect of nature. In addition, extensive renovations will be made to the grounds around the addition to provide Outdoor Therapy space that is integrated into a peaceful park-like setting within the campus.
The new facility is being moved to Redwood Memorial Hospital because the current site at General Hospital in Eureka will not meet the seismic standards for 2020.
