All five ministries in the NorCal Region outlined their respective Sepsis programs in a poster board presentation at the PSJH Sepsis Collaborative on March 22 – 23 in Renton, WA. Together the NorCal Region demonstrated the best outcomes for Sepsis Mortality in the entire PSJH System.
Sonoma and Humboldt Counties utilize dedicated 24/7 critical care trained RNs to lead their Rapid Response Team and Code Sepsis. Napa County utilizes Acute Care Nurse Practitioners to manage treatment of Sepsis patients throughout the hospital and lead the RRT.

The PSJH Sepsis Collaborative is a learning and improvement community that comes together every six months to share rapid improvement projects and outcomes taking place in each ministry based on IHI methodology.
The objective of the learning and improvement community is to reduce variation in the quality of care across all PSJH facilities through the following actions:
- Facilitate learning through collaborative networks (all teach, all learn)
- Develop standard resources and tools that are needed enterprise-wide
- Build local improvement capacity.
