The update to our MEDITECH system is planned for April 19, 2018, with a downtime starting on April 18. The update will primarily include code required to meet Meaningful Use Stage 3 that was not released from the vendor as part of the January update.
Will there be end user training?
No formal training is planned. Most end users are not expected to experience any workflow or major screen changes. The users who need to be aware of new functionality or reports are: Providers and Nursing. If you work in these areas and have not received A Summary of Changes document, contact your core Leader.
Will we have downtime with this Update?
Yes. We will have a system downtime to load the new code into the LIVE system. Downtime will start April 18, 2018, and is expected to last approximately eight (8) hours.
All applications that share data with MEDITECH will be impacted by this downtime. Some may have limited functionality, while others may be unavailable.
Nurses and providers will be asked to stop order entry and documentation before the actual downtime period to allow time for printing of downtime eMARs and other reports. The specific time to stop using MEDITECH will be communicated by your local clinical informatics manager.
Additional downtime details will be found on Alert InfoShare emails, on the MEDITECH log-in screen, and other ministry-specific communication closer to the go-live date.
You should start reviewing downtime procedures now in preparation for April 18, 2018.
For questions, please contact your local clinical informatics manager.
