What information is shared between Virgin Pulse and my employer or third parties?
No confidential information or personal health information from your medical plan or any electronic health record is shared with Virgin Pulse. Virgin Pulse also does not share any of your personal well-being activity and health assessment results with your core leader, employer or any third parties — this is for your use only. Virgin Pulse was chosen based on its innovative well-being formula that has helped major organizations around the world guide their employees toward better work-life balance, and for its internationally-respected name in being a secure platform.
Why do I have to consent to sharing data when I sign up for Virgin Pulse?
The data agreement and privacy policy that Virgin Pulse asks you to agree to is written to cover all of the employers they serve globally, many of whom use Virgin Pulse to administer disease prevention and health coaching programs by analyzing health information. However, we have opted out of these programs and neither we, nor any third party, will receive or share your personal health information.
I’ve connected a third party app or device, like MyFitnessPal, to Virgin Pulse. What about their security standards?
Virgin Pulse allows you to opt in to connecting third party apps and devices to help you earn points toward your reward for completing activities you’re already doing. You may have recently read headlines that MyFitnessPal was affected by a data breach. Having MyFitnessPal connected to Virgin pulse is a one-way street for sharing information. Virgin Pulse does not send information back to any applications and thus your information on Virgin Pulse was not impacted by this breach. Virgin Pulse recommends you change your MyFitnessPal password.
