We are updating Lync 2013 to Skype for Business 2015. Over the next several weeks, we will be upgrading
Lync across Providence Health & Services, Swedish, Kadlec and PacMed. The updates will happen in waves. Upcoming update waves include:
- March 21
- April 4
- April 10 – 12
Caregivers across these ministries will receive an automatic update from Lync to Skype for Business, which may prompt a reboot of the computer. This update to our instant messaging tool means a more reliable, stable application for caregivers. The update includes the following desktop changes:
- the taskbar icon will change from the familiar Lync “L” to the Skype “S”
- the Lync 2013 option replaced by Skype for Business 2015 in the PC Start Menu
- “Join Lync Meeting” link in meeting invitations will change to “Join Skype Meeting”
Although the name of our tool for IM and online meetings is changing, the appearance of Skype for Business is customized to look as much like Lync as possible. The update does not affect Lync / Skype cell phone apps.
See the reference guide to desktop changes and email Skype for Business Support with any questions.
