Protect your loved ones: Review, update or name your life insurance benficiaries

If you are a benefits-eligible caregiver, you have an employer-paid basic life insurance benefit. Protect your loved ones by making sure that you have named your life insurance beneficiaries. If you’re not sure if you’ve named a beneficiary or who you named as your beneficiary, please follow the instructions below to review or edit your current beneficiaries.

Important note: Beneficiary records transitioned to the new enrollment system on Jan. 1, 2018.  It is important that you check to ensure your beneficiary choice was loaded correctly and make updates if needed. If there is no beneficiary named in the current enrollment system, the insurance company determines who will receive your life insurance benefit if there is a claim.

To review, update or name a life insurance beneficiary:

  • Go to the HR portal at Caregiver.eHR.com
  • Click on the Enroll in, review or update benefits button
  • Click on Profile, then My beneficiaries
  • Input your life insurance beneficiary (or beneficiaries)

Helpful tips on naming a life insurance beneficiary:

  • It is optional to provide your beneficiary’s Social Security number.
  • There are no restrictions on who can be your beneficiary.
  • You can name a trust, estate or charity as your beneficiary.
  • Have you recently been married, divorced or had a new baby? You may want to make a change as a result of that event.
  • If you are enrolled in more than one type of life insurance (basic life, supplemental life or voluntary AD&D), please be sure to name a beneficiary for each of your benefits.
  • You are able to name more than one individual as your beneficiary for each life benefit.
  • You can name different individuals to be your beneficiary for each type of life insurance benefit you are enrolled in.
