Please be aware of upcoming changes reference lab testing at Swedish Edmonds, scheduled to take place on April 28, 2018.
We will be transitioning reference lab testing vendors, using LabCorp for all reference testing as of April 28, 2018. Although we expect the impact to lab work to be relatively minimal, we want to make sure you are aware of a few changes you should expect:
- Reference ranges may be impacted. For some tests, there may be changes to the reference lab. If this is the case, the reference range may have changed. Please be aware of this as you review lab results along with specific attention to the reference range.

- Specimen collection requirements and stability may have changed for reference lab testing. Please call the Swedish Edmonds Lab or visit the lab test directory for specimen collection requirements/stability. https://etd.paml.com/etd/client/etd.php?clientid=X521
- Tumor marker changes. Tumor marker testing methodology may have changed. For example, CA19-9 testing methodology will be different with the change in reference lab. It is suggested that “baseline” testing be performed again with a new specimen for monitoring.
Ordering providers should be reassured that test order codes will stay the same. We have actively prepared for this vendor change and will do all that we can to minimize impacts.
